Life on the Luce: a 50th anniversary publication
This issue marked the second phase in the Bennington magazine redesign. The first issue introduced the concept of asking readers a question and featuring their selected and edited responses. The second issue extended this redesign, fully developing a "Headliners" section that prominently featured alumni, faculty, and students making national or international headlines. This approach created a coherent and consistent story of the college's reach and alumni reputation for both affiliated and unaffiliated audiences. The "Headliners" section has since become a standard feature in many alumni magazines.
Additionally, we enhanced the class notes section, recognizing it as the cornerstone of our magazine, and extended its editorial and design presence to align with our overall vision.
This was the inaugural issue of a complete redesign and reimagining of the alumni magazine. The issue feature well was authored entirely by alumni responses to the magazine’s question; a new National Review department was established at the front of the book; and the notes section was redesigned to be organized by content rather than class year. For this reason, we also added an alumni index.
